Out for a little trip

A cosy moment during the day for both baby and parent can be taking a stroll with the pram outdoors. Perhaps the little one will fall asleep like a log, or maybe it will be exciting to lie there and look around at the big wide world. A dose of daylight each day also makes it easier for the baby to start distinguishing between day and night, and for a parent on parental leave, it is usually nice to get away from home for a while and get some fresh air. Some babies refuse to lie in the pram, in which case a sling or baby carrier may be a better option. If you don't feel like it yourself, or feel that it would be good for you, there is no need for the baby to socialise with anyone other than their parents and any siblings. On the contrary, it is quite good to be a little cautious and not expose the baby to various cold viruses in the beginning. Newborn babies (up to about six months old) breathe almost exclusively through their nose, so if it becomes blocked and runny, it can make it difficult for the baby to eat and get energy.

Visit from relatives?

Many new parents are asked about visits from family and friends. Everyone wants to meet the long-awaited little miracle! Of course, it can be wonderful to share your joy over the new family member with others, but what is sometimes forgotten is that sitting and socialising for a few hours when you have just become a parent is not the same as when you have just become a grandmother or godparent. A new parent needs a lot of rest and time to get to know their baby on their own. That's why it's more than okay to decline visits from time to time! As a parent, you decide what's best for your child and your family. Your baby will be just as wonderful in a couple of weeks!
